Pat Dailey
Nebraska native Pat
Dailey began his musical career while still in high school, fronting
the group Pat & The K-Tones, performing at high school dances and
local events. After high school, Dailey entered the Marines but
didn't give up the music, staying with his acoustic guitar and
covering other's songs. During a stint in Hawaii in 1960, he grabbed
an opening spot for famous Hawaiian singer Don Ho. After leaving the
service, he began his music career, spending the next ten years on
the road playing in Chicago, Las Vegas, Steamboat Springs and
Seattle. Settling down in California, he lived for a time on his
sailboat.
Partnering with
songwriter, author, poet, Shel Silverstein, Dailey has co-written
music for Johnny Cash and The Irish Rovers, among others. Their
other collaborations include "On the Water," "The Great Lakes Song"
and "Blue Catawba Moon."
Dailey arrived in
the Cleveland-Great Lakes area in the 1970s, where he has built and
maintained a solid and loyal fan base. He spends his year summering
in Put-In-Bay and wintering in Key West. And singing all the while.
Dailey
chose “Weed and Wine” for his contribution to the project. Recorded
at his South Bass Island home on Put-in- Bay he made sure
that the spirit of the song was conveyed in every possible way. Produced by Alex Bevan, a great deal of red wine was used in the
making of this track.
