Jim Gill and
Friends
Drawing on life
experiences culled from his midwestern upbringing as the only son in
an Irish family of ten, Jim Gill is rapidly making a name for
himself in songwriting circles as a master wordsmith and a
consummate entertaining performer. Many liken his signature, warm
baritone voice to that of the late Jim Croce, while his stage
presence is part Harry Chapin storyteller and part Robin Williams
Night at The Improv.
"Jim Gill is one of the finest
singer/songwriters in the nation, let alone Ohio! And I'll stand on
Steve Earle's kitchen table in my muddy shoes shouting this out at
the top of my lungs!" – Louis
Pastor, poet & music aficionado
Jim has two
independent CD releases thus far which have received critical
acclaim. The Free Times wrote, "A quiet intensity much like Greg
Brown and John Gorka," while Plain Dealer music critic John Soeder
commented, "A bright new voice in the Ohio music scene. Jim grabs
your ear and doesn't let go whether he's delivering hard hitting
tunes about the world around us or heartfelt personal ballads. Don't
miss a chance to catch Jim Gill in concert!" To which Louis Pastor
adds, "Damn straight!"
Gill and Friends'
performance of "Oh How I Miss You" showcases not only John's
superbly written ballad, but Gill's great voice. On this track,
co-produced with Jim Ballard, he is very capably backed by his own
band.
Jim is currently
performing around Ohio, the midwest and the northeast, while working
on material for his third and fourth CD releases. You can see and
